VVK Edison Sunday School Overview

Our Sunday School introduces children to Hinduism and the path of Pushti Bhakti Marg in an age-appropriate, engaging way. Every class blends prayers, Q&A, open discussions, and friendly debates so students learn to think, ask, and live their values—bhakti (devotion), seva (service), satsang (community), and dharma (right action).

All Age Groups

Prayers & Practices: Short daily prayers, aarti, simple bhajans; meaning and pronunciation.
Interactive Learning: Q&A, discussion circles, light debates to build confidence and clarity.
Festivals & Culture: Why we celebrate, how we celebrate, and the values behind each festival.
Character & Values: Kindness, honesty, respect, responsibility, and gratitude in everyday life.

Curriculum

Lalo Lali (Ages 5–6) — Levels 1 & 2

Theme: Gentle introduction to Hinduism and Pushti Bhakti Marg
What we do:

Storytime with Krishna and other beloved deities; festival crafts and songs
Simple ideas like “What is God?”, “What is prayer?”, “How do we show love (bhakti)?”
Easy shlokas and bhajans with meanings and actions

Outcomes: Kids recognize core symbols, learn basic prayers, and connect devotion with kindness at home and school.

Gop Gopi (Ages 6–9) — Levels 1 & 2

Theme: Epic stories & everyday morals
What we do:

Stories from Shri Bhagwat (Bhagavata Purana), Ramayan, and Mahabharat
Moral tales from Hitopadesh and Jataka—virtues like courage, truth, and friendship
Short verses, vocabulary, map of India’s sacred places, festival projects

Outcomes: Children retell key episodes, identify role-model qualities, and apply “dharma in action” at home and with friends.

Baal Sakha (Ages 9–12) — Levels 1 & 2

Theme: Foundations of philosophy & practice
Hinduism

Basic Tenets: Atman, karma, dharma, moksha; types of yoga
Bhagavad Gita: Big questions (duty, self-management, focus); select shlokas and reflections

Pushti Bhakti Marg

Core Ideas: Grace-centered devotion as taught by Shri Vallabhacharya
Texts: Shrimad Bhagwat (selected narratives) and themes from the Shodash Granth
Practice: Seva, satsang, smaran (remembrance), and living bhakti daily

Outcomes: Students build a beginner’s toolkit of philosophy, memorize key verses with meaning, and design a simple personal practice (prayer, seva, reflection).
